Since Michael Jackson’s death, DJs worldwide have been putting together different mixtapes honoring the King of Pop’s music and legacy. While there have been some a good ones, a majority of them aren’t mixed and you can get the same effect by selecting shuffle on the MJ music in your iPod. But DJ Chonz of Radio Bums went all out for his MJ tribute, Peaceful Journey. Chonz pulled excerpts from Jackson’s TV appearances, found different mixes of songs and actually included songs like “You Rock My World” and “Liberian Girl,” that have been widely ignored by other tributes. These guys have been doing it big, touring the U.S. and Repping for their hometown, Seattle. Recently they put out the “Oof” EP and the groups MC, Geologic laid down bars about his days growing up in Hawaii. The results is a dope ass record. Come down this Friday to The Loft to see them get down live. Opening acts, Bambu, Creed Chameleon, Tassho Pearce and The Spacifics.

NBA 2K10 comes out October 6th. This is my pick for best game of the year. At least they didn’t use the picture of Kobe growling fangs out, doing the panther face.

DMV artist, Wale (Universal/Roc Nation) is releasing his debut album titled, “Attention Deficit” on October 20th. I like the cover art a lot. Anyone who’s witnessed Wale’s ascent into the big leagues can testify that he’s the truth. Make sure to run out and cop this album because it’s gonna be dope.

The World Champion Nocturnal Sound Krew are legendary status here in the Islands. By the time you see this post, these will probably be sold out. Aside from putting out dope mixtapes and being one of the founding members of NSK, DJ Compose, is also my DJ. Together, we’ve rocked international crowds alongside superstar talent like Jay-Z, Coldplay, Tom Petty, and N.E.R.D.

This is going to be one of the best albums to drop in 2009. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Mescudi when he was out here in Hawaii and actually sat in on a few sessions. All I can say is “Heart Of A Lion” is amazing and I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to listening to this record in it’s entirety. Full credits and track listing after the jump.
